Louis Montgomery (aka Lou1355) passed away from a heart attack this morning. He was an avid LX-platform enthusiast and many forum members enjoyed reading about his adventures toward his never-ending goal for more speed and better performance out of his Dodge Magnum SRT8. He inspired many other racers to do the same as well as helped some achieve their own individual goals. He will be sorely missed both on the racetrack and on the forums.
Memorial services for Lou will be on Saturday, April 17th, at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, 1480 Knuth Rd, Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 305 at the same address as the church. Lou was the Scout Commitee Chairman and all three of his boys were involved in scouting, including Chris attaining the rank of Eagle, Charlie Life Scout, and Matty just finished up his Eagle project. He was very proud of his boys and his darling Jenny.

This is Debby, Lou’s wife. Thank you all for posting such wonderful things about my dearest friend, companion, and father of my four terrific children. Lou loved racing and his red car…he laughed out loud when he renamed her He*l Bit*h after I named her Red October. He said she was too powerful and needed a powerful name. Because he ran his business out of our home, he needed an outside hobby and that was his car. She became his life when he wasn’t home with me and Matty. Even the older kids heard about the car, the rebuilds, the races, the explosions, the rebuilds, the rebuilds…etc!! We were all very excited about the last build and tune as he was REALLY looking forward to the Florida mile this past weekend. I thank you all for making racing fun for him. He especially loved the Bradenton race – that was the first one I attended and I enjoyed seeing him so fired up.
To fill you in on what happened last Thursday…he had taken the car over to Hudson, FL to get it tuned. He spent the night at the Hampton and on Thursday morning he went downstairs for breakfast. As you could tell he loved his breakfasts…He started to feel funny so he asked them to call 911 as he felt he was having a heart attack. He was taken to the hospital and on the way suffered a massive heart attack and couldn’t be revived. He did not have a history of heart problems although his family did. Although so sudden, I am grateful he didn’t suffer. He would have been a terrible patient! My parents lived only 30 minutes away and were able to got to Hudson to take care of his things and made sure the car was secure until we could get it home.
Lou was brought home this weekend and we will have a memorial service for him on Saturday, April 17th, at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel, 1480 Knuth Rd, Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 305 at the same address as the church. He was very proud of his boys and his darling Jenny.
Again, I thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. We believe that families will be together forever and I know that it’ll be a short time before we are with him. He has gone to prepare my mansion in heaven. May God bless you all – especially when you are racing.

Dear Forum friends, my children and I thank you for all of the kind words, and thoughts and prayers, that have come our way since Lou’s passing. The memorial service last Saturday was one of a kind – I know Lou was smiling the whole time. We had over 490 people in attendance and you could hear a pin drop as taps was played after my older boys, Chris (1Lt USMC) and Charlie (WO1 USA), and my brother Brad (Col, USAF), performed the military honors and handed me a folded flag at the end of the service. I am truly blessed to have so many friends and family members here to give their support. I appreciate all of you who attended and all who had wanted to attend but couldn’t due to time and distance. Please know that you all were a great part of Lou’s life – he laughed and he cursed at the posts!! But he respected all of the drivers and mechanics who helped him live his dream of having the fastest “Chargum” in the country!! Thank you all again. God bless you all and thanks for the memories.
Debby, Chris, Charlie, Jenny and Matty Montgomery
