Mopar Dodge Funny Car Driver Hagan Ends 2010 NHRA Season as Championship Runner-up

November 15, 2010

Posted on: November 15, 2010 – 12:47 pm by mopar

Mopar HEMI®-powered Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driver Matt Hagan came out of a tension-filled, emotionally-exhausting NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., as the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car runner-up to now 15-time world champion John Force.
Hagan, in his second full year in the class for Don Schumacher Racing, watched his 38-point lead diminish at this final event of the year after his first-round defeat at the hands of Bob Tasca III. Hagan experienced mechanical problems and slowed to a 4.162-second lap at 290.44 mph, while Tasca passed him to win with a 4.148/303.57 run. Force won the first round, then won again in the second round, earning him the lead and the crown.

“We mixed it up with who I consider to be the best guy out there, the 15-time champ, and we had him down to one or two rounds here in the final event of the year,” said Hagan. “We fought a hard fight, we dug deep, and we just weren’t good enough today.
“We have to put it behind us and move forward. I’m proud of (crew chief) Tommy DeLago. I’m proud of all my crew guys. I wouldn’t trade them for the world. I plan on working with them for a long time.”
Melanie Troxel advanced to the semis in her Dodge Charger R/T, also falling to Force. The Mopar HEMI-fueled DSR duo of Jack Beckman and Ron Capps both exited in the opening round but finished fourth and seventh in the standings, respectively, placing three Mopar Dodge Funny Cars in the top 10 of the final standings.

Dodge & Mopar Lay Royal Flush at 2010 SEMA Show

October 27, 2010

Posted on: October 27, 2010 – 8:58 am by RLD

Some people are lured to Vegas by the dazzling neon lights illuminating the inky Western sky and the chorus of both men and machine hawking a good time. Still others are entranced by the smooth feel of thick plastic poker chips and the refreshing feel of a complimentary drink sliding down a parched throat. Regardless of the enticement, it’s the tantalizing promise of sensory satisfaction that drives people to Vegas in droves, and the same is true of the SEMA show. Hosted annually, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show offers both automotive manufacturers and suppliers alike the unique opportunity to share the figments of their imagination with fellow dreamers. This year, we’re proud to participate with our own manmade magic from Dodge and Mopar. In addition to the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 launched this morning; we’ll also be displaying the Challenger Drag Pak V10, 2011 Red Line Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango Black and Tan, and a special Fiat 500 concept.

Since SEMA is not open to the public, we’ve committed ourselves to bringing the show to you. As soon as we touch down in Sin City on Tuesday, November 2nd, we’ll be diligently posting original pics, vids, and blog posts across Twitter, Facebook, and our special SEMA page right here on Red Letter Dodge. If you’ve never had the pleasure of breaking a sweat beneath the warm lights of the Las Vegas Convention Center, check out the video above to get an idea of what to expect.

Senate designates July 9, 2010 Collector Car Appreciation Day

June 20, 2010

by Alex Nunez (RSS feed) on Jun 20th 2010 at 6:03PM

Cruise Night
Cruise night is America – Click above for high-res image gallery

If you’re a collector-car owner, or simply one of the millions of Americans who celebrates the hobby by attending local car shows, weekly cruise-ins, and the like, you might want to make a special point of hitting your favorite Friday-night old-car haunt three weeks from now. That’s because the United States Senate unanimously passed Senate Resolution 513

last month, officially designating July 9, 2010 as Collector Car Appreciation Day.

The resolution, co-sponsored by Senators Jon Tester (D-MT) and Richard Burr

(R-NC), states “that the collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.” Moreover, the text of the resolution points out that the hobby and the myriad related businesses supporting it provide jobs for people across all 50 states.

In observance of the occasion, the resolution “encourages the people of the United States to engage in events and commemorations of `Collector Car Appreciation Day’ that create opportunities for collector car owners to educate young people on the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of the United States, including through the collection and restoration of collector cars.”

It’s easy to dismiss resolutions like this as pure frivolity, especially in the face of more pressing matters facing the nation. That said, these things get passed all the time in both houses of Congress, and Sens. Tester and Burr have a point. Not only does the collector car hobby help preserve important bits of Americana, those weekly cruises and shows encourage new generations to get involved and keep the pastime going (along with the industry that exists as a direct result of it).

So, on July 9th, grab your family and friends, head to the local cruisers’ gathering point, and celebrate what those men and women are preserving. It’s American history: the kind you don’t generally learn in schoolbooks.

SRT and Chrysler Group LLC will be in attendance

June 8, 2010
We will have over 13 Chrysler Executives this year at LX Nationals:

Again, they will be bringing with them some very interesting cars to show off. They will also be available and interacting with LX & Beyond participants throughout the entire weekend and have offered to do a 1 hour tech talk again as well. Please join me in thanking them once again and spread the word to others not on the dodge/chrysler/mopar forums, facebook, twitter, and myspace. The 2010 LX & BEYOND NATIONALS is an event you don’t want to miss!!!
