Mopar® Brand Launches New Website for Chrysler Group Owners

Posted: 13th November 2011 by MMM in Chrysler Group

• New Owner’s Center website enables Chrysler Group owners to view vehicle information and service history learn how to use vehicle features, develop customized vehicle galleries and receive special offers
• Owners simply enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), and they’re good to go
• 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show attendees will be first to experience the new website

Auburn Hills, Mich. , Nov 11, 2011 – The Mopar® brand will introduce a new Chrysler Group owner website, called Owner’s Center, at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new site, targeted at Chrysler Group vehicle owners, offers personalized features and services tailored to customer needs. 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show attendees will be among the first to experience the new site, which officially launches on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

“Our new Owner’s Center website will support Chrysler Group customers throughout their entire ownership experience with our vehicles,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “Information will be easily accessible and constantly updated. It’s yet another example of how Mopar adds value to our brands and vehicles.”

The new site is available to all Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge, Ram Truck and FIAT brand customers who have owned vehicles since the 1987 model year. Customers may simply input their vehicle identification number (VIN) to access a host of features including:

Learn and Use
Customers may access information about standard, optional and dealer-installed features. They may also view informational videos, access their owner’s manual, vehicle warranty information and roadside assistance.

Maintain and Care
Customers may easily manage and track their vehicle’s service information, view a complete vehicle history and have the ability to track service contracts. All of this information is automatically populated to their personal site when the service is performed at a Chrysler Group dealership.

Owners also will have easy access to their recommended maintenance schedule and track what they need to do in order to keep their vehicle maintained based on the vehicle’s current mileage.

In addition, the site provides information about their preferred Chrysler Group dealership including address, phone number, hours of operation, dealership amenities and a link to their website. Owners will be able to update their preferred Chrysler Group dealer as they choose.

Shop for brand merchandise
Customers may shop for Chrysler Group brand merchandise and Mopar accessories in the “shop” section as well as have access to special deals exclusive to their vehicle.

The Owner’s Center may be accessed from the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat brand websites by clicking “Owners” at the top of each website or by typing one of the following URLs into any web browser:
• https//owners.fiat.com (beginning in December)

Redemption At The Strip

Posted: 7th November 2011 by MMM in Jeep

By: Scott Vandekerckhove – Lead Contributor

There’s been a whole lot of trash talking about the new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. I guess you could blame some of that talk on the 13.71 ET I ran with it a few months back at Lapeer Dragway.

Once video of my original run made its way on to the forums, we saw comments ranging from, “Not impressive”, to “I’ll stick with my WK1, thank you!”, and “13.7 sucks, in my opinion”. I think you get the picture.

Well, this weekend I returned to Lapeer Dragway in a Challenger SRT8 392. This time the temperature was about 30 degrees cooler than when I ran the Jeep back in late August. In attendance just happened to be another new 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 that quickly dispelled all doubt as to whether or not this new super-SUV is for real.

In bone-stock form, the Jeep was mowing down the 1/4 mile in the low 13’s all day. Check the video below…

Then, as if it couldn’t get any better, that same Jeep ran an incredible 12.97 ET at 104.53 mph. See the time slip below…

Further comparison to my original runs show that 60 foot times were separated by a full two tenths of a second and trap speeds by nearly four miles per hour. The Jeep in the video above did hit 105 mph on one run. Incredible!

I can’t wait to see when both first and second generations of the Jeep SRT breed face off at the strip. Finding someone with a bone-stock first gen, however, will likely be difficult. May the best one win!!!

SRT High Performance Tour week eleven: hanging in SoCal.

Posted on Nov 02, 2011 by driveSRT

The end of the road is near for the 2011 SRT High Performance tour, so our cars and crew are closing the epic roadtrip in big ways.

“Had so much fun talking with all of you last night!! Hope you enjoyed CnC this morning!”
Trisha Allen.

The team spent all last week on the West Coast taking in Southern California car culture. The SoCal Challenger Club coordinated a stop at the famous Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank, which hosts cruise-ins that are said to have inspired the cult classic film American Graffiti. Early the next morning, the team headed to Irvine to experience the original Cars and Coffee event, known to draw high-profile stars and glittering cars worthy of paparazzi lenses.

The final week of the tour will be spent at the exciting SEMA trade show in Las Vegas, where automotive hobbyists converge to network and peruse the world’s most creative automotive accessory vendors. If you’re going to the show, head to the SRT tunnel, where you can meet the tour drivers, SRT engineers and the 2012 lineup.

“It was cool to see the cars today- thanks for stopping in! Can’t wait for SEMA to start!”
Patricia Schaefer Bulicek.

Modern Mopar Versus Old School Mopar Throwdown Coming Next Season

IMG_3309

Over the past few years we have been kicking around the idea of holding a Modern Mopar versus Old School Mopar showdown at the LX & Beyond Nationals. Before the first LX-platform Dodge Charger, Dodge Magnum or Chrysler 300 burned rubber on a drag strip the debate began whether or not the new kids on the block would be able to carry the Mopar Muscle torch into the next couple of decades. Nearly 6 years have passed and we have now seen a 2nd generation of the new Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicle; and the birth of the new Dodge Challenger on the shortened LC-platform.

As the flagship LX event on the east coast, the LX & Beyond Nationals decided that next season’s 5th year anniversary is the perfect time to show the Mopar world what 6-7 years of grassroots tuning, testing, blood, sweat and tears has created. Don’t let the low-key exteriors, large diameter wheels or retro-looking graphics fool you into thinking they did not come to take home nothing less than a win light. The debate is over, time to settle it on the dragstrip.

We will be reviewing rules and regulations for this racing class and posting the info on this website as well as many of your favorite forums in the upcoming months. We are looking for class sponsors immediately. The sooner we know your interest and commitment the sooner we can coordinate with you in getting the word out to everyone.

Join the discussion on rules/regulations. Stop over to LXForums.com

Preliminary Plans:

  • Pre-registration Required to participate
  • Limited number of entries.
  • 64 Car Field = 32 Modern + 32 Classics
    • Prize money at 16
    • Prize money at 8
    • Prize money at 4
    • Prize money at 2
    • Grand prize for winner

More details to be released very soon…

Up Next… 2012 LX & Beyond Nationals

The planning and information gathering process never stops at LX & Beyond. We have been working hard this summer since the close of the event to make next year’s event better than ever. Its amazing that its been over 4 years since the LX Nationals first began in that restaurant parking lot in Columbus, Ohio. Who could have guessed we would be celebrating a 5 year anniversary. Stay tuned to your favorite forums, social media and this website for the latest news.

We are looking forward to being apart of the Modern Street Hemi Shootout Series again for the 2012 racing season. By far the best and most well-organized racing for the Modern Mopar — Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Magnum, Chrysler 300 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 — on the east coast. Do not be surprised to see additional stops added to this series for next year. If you own one of the LX & Beyond vehicles or want to see some modern Mopars go really fast keep an eye on this series! The 2011 MSHS Finale will be held at ATCO Raceway in New Jersey on November 4, 2011.

Some changes that we can share with you for 2012 LX & Beyond Nationals is that car show participation will be available as pre-registered only. Drive-ups the day of the event will not be permitted so that we can allocate proper space and resources for this portion of the event. Pre-registration will be available (and recommended) for racing and meet and greet participants as well. Remember that many activities are based on attendance, so let us know you’re coming! The A&W Restaurant that we have visited for the kick-off party cruise-in has been sold and will no longer remain a restaurant. Discussions are being held with new locations that are very excited to have us start our weekend at their business.

We are very much excited to see our sponsors return from this year and previous years and working closely with them to not only have their support but also see more in attendance. We have been listening to feedback and know that you want to be able to purchase stuff. There are also some other items in the works that we will share later….
